Xuemei Bai

Xuemei Bai is a Chinese Canadian watercolour artist based in Guelph, Ontario.  Inspired by nature, music and everyday life, she creates paintings that combine expressive portraiture with flowers, landscapes and atmospheric colour.  Working primarily in watercolour, she enjoys exploring the balance between light and shadow, warmth and coolness, realism and imagination.

Painting has been an important part of her life for more than ten hyears.  through transparent layers, delicate colour harmonies and expressive brushwork, Xuemei Bai seeks to capture not only the appearnace of her subjects but also their quiet emotional presence.
