Celebrating...
Eliece Getson, Artist and Illustrator

Eliece has enjoyed being an artist for many years, using different mediums that include watercolors, acrylics, oils and ink. As each piece develops, she considers her journey one that is full of adventure. Through her connection with other members of the Guelph Creative Arts Association, Eliece's potential as an illustrator came to the attention of Saskatchewan author Marie Donais Calder who has written many adult and children's books published through Borealis Press in Ottawa. Donais Calder was looking for an artist to work with her on a new children’s book, entitled "What Can You Do When You Live In A Shoe" , which is a gentle and thought provoking tale using a shoe as a metaphor for the changes we all undergo throughout our lives. You can choose to make the best of whatever ‘shoe’ you now find yourself living in. Why not choose to be happy? The choice is yours to make.
The connection between author and illustrator was a special one. "The illustrator for my first three children’s books had retired", remarked Donais Calder. "She was one of the best in the industry and I thought I could never be so lucky as to find another gifted artist to work with me. Thankfully, it was my good fortune to connect with Eliece" she said. Both author and publisher bring high praise, proclaiming that Eliece's illustrations are "engaging, thought-provoking and delightful". Eliece has already been commissioned for Donais Calder's next Children's book which is planned as a follow-up to the one about to be launched. So we celebrate artist, illustrator and GCAA member Eliece Getson on the impending book launch, and look forward to the encore!
